Ozette Triangle - 8/12/11

This 2nd day of our vacation was a trip to the Pacific Ocean, and a 9.2 mile hike called the Ozette triangle. The trail began at the Ozette Ranger Station and went west 3.1 miles to the coast at Cape Alava, then south 3.1 miles past the "wedding rocks" to Sand Point, then east 3 miles to the trailhead. The trails to, and from, the coast, were boardwalks, for the most part, thru rainforest.

Lots of seastacks
Our spot for lunch... thru the hole and on the other side
Jungle ropes at the "wedding rocks"... the boys liked these

Didn't have the sunscreen, so the Ninja look took over
Another impressive big tree
The day was another beautiful day, once again sunny and in the 60's.  We saw many people who had backpacked to the coast and camped in nice informal locations just back from the beach.  We returned to the car mid-afternoon to drive to towards the Hoh Rain Forest.  We selected a private campground, Three Rivers Resort and Campground, near Mora, and set up camp at dinner time.  The campground was nice.  They also had nice showers and laundry as well as cabins for $89-$109/night which were very nice looking.  After dinner we drove to 1st beach to watch the sunset.
