Beech Hill - 12/18/11

Yesterday we climbed 2 Adirondack high peaks (Upper and Lower Wolfjaw), so today we went for a shorter hike.  This trip was to Beech Hill in Schroon Lake.  The summit elevation is 2178'.  The mountain is near our camp and we just had a nice little bushwack/GPS navigate to the summit.

The true summit doesn't have much of a view, but from the lower portion of the summit ridge you can see east and north.

We waited until 10 AM to start the hike so it could warm up to 10 degrees.  It was 1 degree at 7:30 AM....

Hike Stats:

Hike Distance:  3.1 miles
Hike Time:  2 hours, 45 minutes
Total Vertical:  1000 feet

Starting to get a view

Schroon Lake and Pharaoh Mountain to the east

Hoffman Mountain to the north

A rock cairn on the false summit
Our route shown in blue

Nice to have short adventures that are easily accessible...
