Architecture New and Old

Here is tangent from my usual blog post topics...

As I was driving to Vermont on 12/3 to hike Camel's Hump, I had the opportunity to drive on the new Lake Champlain bridge in the daytime. What a nice bridge! Ferries are neat because you don't ride them so often, but nothing like a bridge when you are trying to get to a hike as quick as possible.
I took a few pictures as I admired the clean lines of the new bridge.

The old bridge was nice too, but I think I like the new one even better...What do you think?

It's not to often I like a new structure better than an old one.    If you want to see pictures of the old bridge, here's the story of the Lake Champlain Bridge construction project along with lots of photos, both new and old.

2nd story...

After my hike, I was driving towards Burlington and came across an old 16 sided church in Richmond, VT.  The church was built in 1813 and has recently been restored and in on the National Historic Register.  I must say it's the first one I've seen like it.  It's quite attractive.

The church was closed, but here is an interior view through a window.
Here is a link to the history of the church.  Check it out.  It's only one page and it's a fascinating story of americana.  5 denominations used the church at the same time!

Good architecture catches my eye when I travel and these 2 examples good examples.
