Haystack Mountain VT - 1/1/12

Haystack Mountain in Pawlet Vermont is a great 2 hour hike.  It is 3 miles round trip and the trail leads you to the summit with a fantastic 360 degree view.

What a difference from our morning hike on Equinox Mountain where we were in the fog and snow with no view.  We began our ascent of Haystack at 1:15 PM and were on the summit in an hour.  The sun was out and it had warmed up into the 40's.  With no breeze, it felt almost like summer.

We lingered on the summit for about 45 minutes and then returned to the car at 4 PM.

  1. a bit confusing at the beginning as you start up the Tunket Rd. and the road forks. It would appear the road veers left but no, that is the neighbor's driveway and I bet they are sick of people like me walking up it. A little sign where the road and driveway fork would solve all problems.

    1. I don't recall the driveway problem. I do remember signage wasn't great.
